Different Drum
Posted by Unknown at 6:37 PM Labels: Female Singers, Sixties Songs
You and I travel to the beat of a different drum
Oh can't you tell by the way I run
Every time you make eyes at me
Wo-oh
You cry and moan and say it will work out
But honey child I've got my doubts
You can't see the forest for the trees
Oh don't get me wrong
It's not that I knock it
It's just that I am not in the market
For a boy who wants to love only me
Yes, and I ain't saying you ain't pretty
All I'm saying is I'm not ready
For any person place or thing
To try and pull the reins in on me
So good-bye I'll be leaving
I see no sense in this crying and grieving
We'll both live a lot longer
If you live without me
Oh don't get me wrong
It's not that I knock it
It's just that I am not in the market
For a boy who wants to love only me
Yes, and I ain't saying you ain't pretty
All I'm saying is I'm not ready
For any person place or thing
To try and pull the reins in on me
So good-bye I'll be leaving
I see no sense in this crying and grieving
We'll both live a lot longer
If you live without me...

Both Sides Now
Posted by Unknown at 2:16 PM Labels: Female Singers, Sixties Songs
Bows and flows of angel hair,
And ice-cream castles in the air,
And feathered-canyons ev'rywhere,
I've looked clouds that way..
But now they only block the sun,
They rain and snow on ev'ryone,
So many things I would have done,
But clouds got in my way..
I've looked at clouds from both sides now,
From up and down, and still somehow,
It's clouds illusions I recall,
I really don't know clouds at all..
Moons and Junes and Ferris Wheels,
The dizzy dancing way you feel,
When ever fairytale comes real,
I've looked at love that way..
But now, it's just another show,
You leave 'em laughing where you go,
And if you care, don't let them know,
Don't give yourself away..
I've looked at love from both sides now,
From win and lose, and still somehow,
Its love illusions I recall,
I really don't know love at all..
Tears and fears and feeling proud,
To say 'I love you' right out loud,
Schemes and dreams and circus crowds,
I've looked at life that way,
But now old friends are acting strange,
They shake their heads, then say I've changed,
Well, something's lost, but something's gained,
In livin' evr'yday..
I've looked at life from both sides now,
From give and take, and still somehow,
It's life's illusions I recall,
I really don't know
Life at all...

Oh, Pretty Woman
Posted by Unknown at 7:06 PM Labels: Sixties Songs
Title of the song also made it into the 1990 movie Pretty Woman, which also included the song in the soundtrack.
The song, made synonymous with the 1990 movie starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, about a rich man who eventually falls in love with a streetwalking prostitute.
Surprisingly, the song was written and released in 1964.
